Fundación ESPERANZA
Colombia and the Dominican Republic: The Fundación ESPERANZA (the ESPERANZA Foundation) was created in Holland in response to the work initiative of two women, one Colombian and the other Dutch. During the 90's they were committed to offer voluntary support to Latin American women living in Holland, who were dedicated to the prostitution trade. The problematic they found was so huge that they decided to look for government support and from other institutions so in 1993 they were able to consolidate their work creating the Fundación ESPERANZA.
KARO

Ban Ying
Ban Ying is Thai for "house of women". The organization was founded in 1988 and now comprises two projects, a shelter and a coordination center for women from Southeast Asia. Ban Ying was founded through the initiative of social workers staffing a Berlin counselling center. There prostitutes were provided with information about sexually transmitted diseases and AIDS. They became aware of the fact that especially Thai women repeatedly stated that they were working as prostitutes not of their own free will, but were coerced. It was virtually impossible for these victims of trafficking to change their situation, since there was no place for them to go to be safe from the pimps and traffickers (our experience has shown that traffickers often are Thai women).
